To show the game you're playing as an activity status on Discord, go into the user settings screen, choose "Activity Status" from the left sidebar, and toggle "Display current activity as a status message". Discord will usually detect a running game, but you can add one by clicking "Add it" and selecting it from the dropdown menu.

Putting up a game status in the Discord application is one of the best ways to interact with other gamers in the world. I've been using this "Now Playing" status for years, so when a friend wanted to use it on his server, I showed him how.

If you're looking for how to show what you're playing on Discord to other friends while gaming, this quick guide will get you set up in a minute or two. Let's get into it.

How to Show The Game You're Playing As a Status Message in Discord?

Discord is a gaming social platform, with many features that make it easier to connect with other users who love games too.

An example is the ability to show or hide the game you're playing.

You can easily set your current status to display what game you're currently enjoying. Here's how to enable the feature below.

Enable Game Status in User Settings

The first thing you need to do is get Discord to show your "Now Playing" status. Depending on the game you're playing, this might be the only step.

To show the game you're currently playing on Discord:

  1. Open Discord.
  2. In the bottom-left corner, beside your username, click the gear icon to open "User Settings".
  3. From this Discord settings page, click "Activity Status" on the left of the screen.
  4. Toggle the "Display current activity as a status message" setting.

Just like that, Discord can detect most games and show your friends what you're playing.

Add Game Manually If Not Detected

While Discord can show most major games you're playing, the occasional game might be playing but show "No game detected".

In this case, you can add it to your Discord library manually.

On the settings page, click the "Add it" text next to "Not seeing your game?".

This will bring up a dropdown menu. Make sure the game is running and select it from the options in the menu. Press "Add Game" and this will add it to the library, letting the feature work properly.
