How to Change Color on Redragon Keyboard? (The Basic Guide)

Lindsay Hayes

If you're looking for how to change color on Redragon keyboard, there are two ways you can do it. You can use the Redragon Keyboard Manager software, select a profile, and then use the "Color" dropdown menu, from where you can select a keyboard color. The other method uses the keyboard combo of the Fn key + right arrow key to cycle through the colors.

I bought my nephew a Redragon mechanical keyboard as part of his gaming setup. The fact that it was a Redragon RGB keyboard was something that had him ecstatic, but he couldn't figure out how to change color on Redragon keyboard to match the rest of his setup. I was able to tell him how to get it done and even showed him that he can use the Redragon software too.

If you're also trying to figure out how to change color on Redragon keyboard, then you're in the right place. There's more than one way to do this and each method is rather easy to get the hang of. Let's jump right into it.

How to Change Redragon Keyboard Color?

If you have a Redragon RGB backlit keyboard, you can change the color of the keyboard to any desired color. You can even change the color for individual keys, which is awesome.

Keep in mind that if the Redragon keyboard you have is a rainbow-backlit keyboard, you won't be able to change the colors at all. The colors you get out of the box are what the keyboard is fixed to.

There are two ways you can change the color of your entire Redragon at once. You can either use their software or use a quick key combination. Either way, I'll show you how to do both below.

Using Redragon Keyboard Software

Using Redragon's software to change the color of your keyboard is a great option because apart from being able to select any of your light modes in a few clicks, you also have access to other Redragon keyboard settings.

If you don't already have it, the first thing you will need to do is download and install the setup file for the keyboard software. To do that, follow these steps:

  1. Click here to access Redragon's software page.
  2. Scroll to the "Keyboard" section. Here, you'll see the model names for all of their RGB backlit keyboards. Look for the model name of your keyboard and click it.
  3. Click "Software" to start the download.
  4. Once the download has been completed, you may need to use unzipping software like WinRAR to unzip the file if it is not already in ".exe" format.
  5. Go into the folder with the unzipped contents and double-click "setup.exe".
  6. Follow the steps on the screen to complete the installation.

Now that the software for your RGB keyboard has been installed, it is time to use it to change the way your Redragon keyboard lights up.

  1. Make sure your Redragon keyboard is connected to the computer and launch the software.
  2. Choose one of the profiles on the left side.
  3. Make sure the "Light" option is ticked.
  4. Select one of the light modes from the detailed menu beside it. You can choose "Fixed_on" if you don't want anything fancy.
  5. Untick the "RGB" box to use a static color.
  6. Now, click a color from the basic color options or use the color picker. You should see your entire Redragon keyboard light up in the color that you selected.

Using Function Key and Arrow Key Combination

If using the software for Redragon keyboards seems like too much hassle, you can always use a keyboard combination to cycle through a preset selection of color schemes.

Of course, you lose the choice of custom lighting schemes with this method, but it is a faster way to change the RGB light effects of your whole keyboard at once.

To do this, simply hold down the Function key and then press the right arrow key. This will move your gaming keyboard to the next backlight color.

When you press the right arrow key again, it will switch to the next color in the sequence. Tap the right arrow as many times as possible until you get to a color that you like.

How to Change Individual Key Color?

My favorite thing about having a Redragon keyboard is your ability to change the backlight on individual keys. However, a lot of people don't know that you can do so on this gaming keyboard.

Just like with changing the color of the entire keyboard, you can either use a keyboard combination or the official software.

Using Redragon Keyboard Software

You can use the official software for your Redragon keyboard to change the color setting for individual keys. Just follow the steps below to do this:

  1. Download, install, and launch the software for your specific Redragon keyboard.
  2. Make sure the "Light" option is ticked. Select "Coastal" from the dropdown menu beside it.
  3. Now, click on the pen icon.
  4. From the color picker, select your color of choice.
  5. Now, click on all the individual keys that you want to have lit up in this specific color.
  6. You can then go back to step 3 and use that to set the key colors for the other keys on your keyboard.

Using Key Combination

It is a bit complicated, but you can also use a keyboard combination to choose a custom backlight color for individual keys. It involves using the Function key and the tilde key.

When you get the hang of this method, you will be able to set customized backlights for your Redragon keyboard in seconds.

  1. Press Fn key and the tilde (~) key twice. This will allow you to enter the backlight definition mode.
  2. You should see the Num Lock, Scroll Lock, Win Lock, and Caps Lock indicator lights start flashing. This means that your keyboard is ready for you to change colors.
  3. Now, look at the tilde key. The color it glows is the selected color that you are about to set individual keys to. Just press Fn key and the right arrow button to scroll through the different colors. Your tilde key will change as you do. Do this until you get to a color that you like.
  4. Now, with the selected color in mind, press each specific key that you would like to have to light up in this particular color. You should see them easily change color as you do.
  5. Once you've set the individual keys, press Fn key plus the tilde key once more. This will save your changes.

Now, all you need to do is repeat those same steps if you want to add more colors to other individual keys.

Final Words

If you want to customize the color of your Redragon keyboard, it is rather simple, especially when you're using the official software. This works regardless of whether you're changing color for the whole keyboard or just specific keys.

However, you might find it faster by just using a combo key sequence. You can use the Function keys and the Right key to scroll through different color schemes for the entire keyboard. However, when you press Fn key and the tilde button, you can enter a mode where you can customize individual keys without the software.

There's no need to reach out to Redragon support if you can't figure out how to change your keyboard color easily because this article just showed you how! If you found this helpful, take a look at our other articles for more great tips.
