Fixing this is easy; all you have to do is double-check its power source and connecting cable, to make sure they're secure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the problem could also be software-related, for example, if your OS is outdated. Give your power supply connections a good inspection to find out what's going on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, if your computer uses a Power Supply Unit (PSU), make sure you have one that provides sufficient power. You may already have an anti-virus on your computer, so open it and check whether you've missed any security alerts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you don't see any alerts, it won't hurt to do a scan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.avast.com\/index#pc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Avast antivirus<\/a> is a popular choice. To do an advanced scan on it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Download and install the Avast antivirus<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open it<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to Protection<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the Virus Scan option<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go through the scan list and choose the Full Virus Scan tile<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wait for the scan to be done<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go through the steps Avast recommends to get rid of any malware<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Solution_5_Check_the_Computers_Temperature\"><\/span>Solution 5: Check the Computer's Temperature<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If your computer is overheating, this could be causing your PC to restart. It won't be able to sustain itself to stay on for long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will know whether your computer has been getting too hot by doing a special diagnostic test. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aida64.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Aida64<\/a> is a good one that I recommend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the diagnostic tool lets you know for certain that overheating is the problem, it might be time to inspect your device's cooling system. It may not have been able to cool your CPU down properly because its fans could be either full of dust, or because it doesn't have a stable connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To check your fan's connections:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Open up the back panel of the PC case<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check for the CPU fan and the wires<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remove the CPU fan from the connector pins that it's attached to (on the motherboard circuit)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clean any corrosion or dirt from the pins using rubbing alcohol, and let it dry<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reattach it to the matching slots and make sure that it's properly seated<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To check and clean any dust on your fan:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Use a screwdriver to undo the side screws<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gently clip it out from its position<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Grab a compressed air can and blow at the fins<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Repeat this with your heat sink<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Get a microfiber cloth, pour some rubbing alcohol on it, and clean the propellers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reseat the fan after it's dry<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Solution_6_Replace_Broken_Power_Buttons\"><\/span>Solution 6: Replace Broken Power Buttons<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There's a chance that your power button is broken. If you suspect that it's broken, you can contact the store that you bought it from. It forwards instructions to other computer components during the start-up process. So, you could get stuck restarting if it acts up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You should be able to fix any issues by resetting your BIOS chip. Here's what you do:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Click on your computer's designated BIOS key (it's either the F2, F8, F10 or F12, or Del key depending on your [C model)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to the Factory Default option from the shutdown screen via the arrow keys<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on Restore\/ Reset Settings and confirm the prompt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Save the change<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exit from the menu<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Hopefully, the above steps will help. However, there's a chance that your BIOS shutdown settings are not loading in the first place. In this case, you won't be able to try the above fix. Your BIOS chip might be damaged, and you'll have to get it replaced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Solution_9_Resolve_OS_Corruption\"><\/span>Solution 9: Resolve OS Corruption<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If your computer still keeps turning on and off, your OS may be corrupted. You might have incorrectly saved files, or could be dealing with a damaged hard drive\/storage. Although this issue sounds serious, it only takes a couple of easy steps in the Windows Recovery Environment to fix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To fix the computer turns on and off repeatedly issue:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>On the Windows login screen, click the Power button<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hold the Shift key while selecting restart<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the Windows Recovery Environment menu<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the Advanced Options button<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the Startup Repair option<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select your PC account, and enter the password<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tap the Continue button<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wait till the process ends<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If the startup repair didn't work, you will have to take things up a notch and reset your PC. Keep in mind that when you do this, all your data, regardless of whether they're junk files or not, will be cleared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I advise you to backup your files before getting started. Here's how:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Click on the Start button<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to Settings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on Accounts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tap on Windows Backup<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose the following - OneDrive Folder Syncing, Remember My Apps, and Remember My Preferences<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To reset it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Go back to the Windows Recovery Environment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on Troubleshoot<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose the Reset this PC option<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the Remove Everything button<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on Next<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose the Fully Clean the Drive option<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hit the Reset button<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wait for your Windows to completely wipe its OS<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Solution_10_Check_Your_Device_RAM_Sticks\"><\/span>Solution 10: Check Your Device RAM Sticks<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Your RAM could be responsible for the issue if your PC turns off a few seconds after you switch it on. What you need to know about RAMs is that they need constant support from your computer's processor to hold data.
