Turning your computer off and back on should help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The problem can also be due to Discord's servers being down, or your audio drivers being outdated. You can use a special third-party tool, like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.avast.com\/driver-updater#pc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Avast Updater<\/a> to upgrade your audio drivers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I've faced the problem a while ago on my older computer. I figured that it was driver-related and was able to fix it. Audio Issue?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many ways to fix the Discord screen share audio problem, but before we get started, make sure that Discord's servers are not down. None of the below fixes will work if this is the case. You'll have to wait until they're back up again- but you can also contact Discord's customer service team and ask them to sort out the issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, there is a special <a href=\"https:\/\/discordstatus.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">server status page<\/a> that you can visit. You'll be able to tell whether a server is in fact down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Discord screen share also tends to act up when used on Mozilla Firefox. You might think the feature is switched on, when it's actually been disabled the whole time. Go to your account settings to check whether this is the case, and fix it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here's how:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Launch Discord<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the gear icon on the bottom left sidebar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to User Settings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the Voice and Video Settings option<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Toggle the \"Use an experimental method to capture audio from applications\" option on<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Now check whether Discord automatically detects your audio when using the screen sharing feature<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Solution_2_Disable_Full_Screen_Mode\"><\/span>Solution 2: Disable Full Screen Mode<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Oddly, users have faced Discord audio issues when using full screen mode. You might not have known this and may have been screen sharing on full screen the whole time. Try minimizing the screen and try again. You should be good to go now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Solution_3_Add_Discord_Activity\"><\/span>Solution 3: Add Discord Activity<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Although I haven't had luck with this fix, I know a couple of users who say that enabling their account activity fixes Discord screen-sharing issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here's what you do:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Open Discord<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to your User Settings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the Registered Games button on the left navigation bar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add your game by clicking Add<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Toggle the Overlay switch on<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Solution_4_Enable_Legacy_Audio_Subsystem\"><\/span>Solution 4: Enable Legacy Audio Subsystem<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have an older computer, its hardware may not be compatible with Discord's audio subsystem. However, this can be fixed easily. Enable the Discord legacy audio subsystem button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here's how:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Launch Discord<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the Settings icon<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on Audio &amp; Video Settings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to Audio Subsystem<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on Legacy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click Okay to save the changes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Solution_5_Update_Discord_Application\"><\/span>Solution 5: Update Discord Application<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Discord updates automatically, but it might have malfunctioned and may not be able to update itself. Not to worry; you can go ahead and manually download the latest software version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are 2 ways to do this on Windows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Press the Windows logo key and the R buttons at the same time to open the Dialog box<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter in '%localappdata%' into the box, then click on the Ok option from the drop down menu that appears<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Double-click Discord, and double-click Update.exe. Wait for the update to be done<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You should now restart Discord and check whether your screen share no audio problem is gone<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Or:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Launch Discord<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Press the CTRL + R buttons at the same time<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wait for the app to refresh and reload<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To update Discord on the latest version on Mac computers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Right-click on the Discord app icon on the home screen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select Quit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the application again and wait for it to launch (this will prompt it to update itself)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"350\" src=\"https:\/\/cpuforever.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Lady-working-on-the-Laptop.jpg\" alt=\"Lady working on the Laptop\" class=\"wp-image-4164\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cpuforever.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Lady-working-on-the-Laptop.jpg 500w, https:\/\/cpuforever.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Lady-working-on-the-Laptop-300x210.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Solution_6_Reset_Voice_Settings\"><\/span>Solution 6: Reset Voice Settings<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You may not have any audio while screen sharing if you changed your Discord Voice settings. If you remember what you changed, this won't be a problem. Just go back and undo them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you don't, then you will need to reset your voice settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here's how:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Open Discord<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the User Settings icon (the gear next to your avatar)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on Voice &amp; Video from the left menu<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the Reset Voice Settings option<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on Okay to confirm and get your audio settings back again<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Solution_7_Restart_Your_Computer\"><\/span>Solution 7: Restart Your Computer<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Always try restarting your computer to see if it helps. Some users have had luck with this, and it usually helps when you're dealing with minor system glitches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do the following on Windows computers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Click on the Windows start menu<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the Power off button<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on Restart<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Do the following on Macs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Open the Apple menu<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the Restart icon<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Solution_8_Temporarily_Disable_Your_Antivirus\"><\/span>Solution 8: Temporarily Disable Your Antivirus<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Your antivirus keeps your computer safe, but it may restrict even safe third-party apps. This might have happened to the Discord app. So, the only way around it would be to temporarily disable your antivirus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Avast is arguably the most popular option out there, so let's discuss how to turn it off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Windows computers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Right-click on Avast in the System Tray (on the lower-right corner)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the Avast Shields control Option<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tap on the Disable Avast button<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the Yes button to confirm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>On Mac computers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Find the Avast icon on your Mac home screen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Right-click on it<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the Protection option, then choose on Core Shields<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to Settings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the Components button<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on Disable Anti-virus, then click Ok to confirm the change<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Be sure to follow the above steps and switch on your antivirus when you're done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Solution_9_Update_Your_Audio_Driver\"><\/span>Solution 9: Update Your Audio Driver<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If your computer's audio drivers are outdated, you'll face various audio issues, not just the Discord screen share problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before you start updating, know that you can either do the job manually through your Device Manager, or through a special third-party tool. I prefer using a third-party tool, as you'll be able to take care of any other drivers that may be outdated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.avast.com\/driver-updater#pc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Avast Updater<\/a> is a personal favorite of mine. To bypass this, you can give Discord administrative access. Just know that only Windows users can do this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Press and hold the Windows logo key and E buttons at the same time<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Find Discord folder (in the program files in your local disc C)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Right-click on the app's executables, then choose Properties<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the Compatability option from the pop up window<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Toggle the Run This Program as Administrator option<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Save your changes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>When it comes to Mac computers, you can't run programs as 'administrator'. Apple is known to prevent third-party apps from have rooting access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Solution_11_Delete_and_Reinstall_Discord\"><\/span>Solution 11: Delete and Reinstall Discord<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If all else fails, it might be time to delete and reinstall the Discord app. This will wipe all its data from your computer, so any stubborn software problems causing the audio issue would be cleared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Windows computers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Click on the Start Menu<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select Settings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the Apps option, then select Apps &amp; Features from the left menu<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the program you want to uninstall from the list<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the Uninstall button next to the Discord app<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>On Macs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Click on the Dock Finder icon<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the app you want to delete<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Drag it to the trash<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter your username and password<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to the Trash folder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on Finder, then select Empty Trash<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Once done, head to the <a href=\"https:\/\/discord.com\/download\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Discord website<\/a> and click on the Download button. Wait for the app to reinstall.
