Try moving closer to your router, or disconnect and reconnect back to your WiFi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although I haven't faced the error before, it used to pop up on my friend's iPhone. Usually, it happens when Venmo's servers are down. This happens when your bank detects suspicious activity, like when you repeatedly try to change your online banking password.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your bank might also be wary if you're trying to transfer a very large amount. Contact them and verify the money transfer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_Outdated_Payment_Information\"><\/span>3. Most likely, the debit card you've linked to has expired. Exceeding Weekly Spending Limit<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Venmo places weekly <a href=\"https:\/\/help.venmo.com\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/209690048-Personal-Profile-Bank-Transfer-Limits#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">spending limits<\/a> on accounts, and exceeding this can lead to issues like transaction failure error. You'll have to wait until the payment limit is topped up again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"5_Automated_Security_System\"><\/span>5. Automated Security System<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Venmo's Automated Security system ensures the accounts are safe. However, it has its downsides. Re-submission of the wrong password and repeated payments can trigger the security system, and restrict payments<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"6_Bad_Internet_Connection\"><\/span>6. Bad Internet Connection<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Your Venmo payment won't go through if you have a poor internet connection. You are either too far from your router or connected to a pretty slow WiFi network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The issue can also pop up due to a network-related bug. Moving closer to your router or switching to another WiFi connection won't work in this case. You will have to switch Airplane Mode on and off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On iPads and iPhones:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Open the Settings app<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Toggle the button next to Airplane Mode on<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wait a couple of seconds and toggle it back off (should turn green to grey)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>On Android phones:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Open Settings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the Network &amp; Internet button<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Toggle Airplane Mode on<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wait a couple of seconds and toggle it back off<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"7_Payment_App_Glitch\"><\/span>7. Payment App Glitch<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The payment app might be acting up because of an internal glitch. Signing out and back into your account usually helps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Android and Apple devices:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Launch Venmo<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the three horizontal lines on the top-right corner<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the Settings button<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scroll down all the way to the bottom<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tap the Sign Out of Venmo option<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you've signed out, wait a couple of seconds and restart your device, then sign back in again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"8_Phone_Glitch\"><\/span>8. Phone Glitch<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Your phone's OS could be the problem. You should be able to turn your phone off and back on to take care of the issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If that doesn't do the trick, you can take things up a notch and do a force reboot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Androids, the process to follow differs depending on your model. Or else, it can bug out and cause issues, including the error in question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before you start updating, make sure you have a proper internet connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To update the app on Androids:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Launch the Google Play Store<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the Profile icon in the top-right corner<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on Manage Apps &amp; Device button<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go through the list of the apps that need to be updated<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tap Update next to Venmo<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>On iPhones and iPads:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Open the App store<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the profile icon at the top of the screen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tap Update next to Venmo if there is new firmware pending<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"10_Bad_App_Cache\"><\/span>10. Bad App Cache<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Venmo might be malfunctioning because of a corrupt cache. You should be able to fix this by refreshing your cache. This will only take a couple of seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To clear app cache on Androids:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Go to Settings, and click on the Apps button<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Search for Venmo from the list<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tap Storage<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the Clear Cache button<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>On iPhones:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Open the Settings app<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scroll down until you find Venmo from the app list<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on it and scroll down to the bottom<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the Clear Temp Date button<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Confirm the change<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"11_Major_Software_Problem\"><\/span>11. Major Software Problem<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Venmo app could be refusing your payments due to a major bug. You should be able to delete and reinstall the app to take care of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To uninstall it on iPhones:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Find the Venmo app on the home screen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hold it down<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tap the Delete button<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>On Androids:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Find the Venmo app on the home screen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hold it down and click on the Delete button<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tap Uninstall<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, head to your respective app store and find and install Venmo again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"12_Bank_Server_Issue\"><\/span>12. There's nothing you can do other than wait for them to be back up again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you're impatient, you can also contact your bank or card issuer and ask them when their servers will be fixed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"13_Damaged_Venmo_Debit_Card_Scratched_Magnetic_Stripe\"><\/span>13.
