computer keyboards under a single broad category. This is one of the ways you can categorize them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, when you look at a computer keyboard in the scope of its connectivity options, you will come up with two major categories: wired and wireless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Wired_Keyboard\"><\/span>Wired Keyboard<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A wired keyboard connects to a computer using a wire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are different types of computer keyboards that use wires, but the most common type is the USB keyboard. This computer keyboard connects to your PC using either USB-A or USB-C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also consider the wired keyboards that connect using a PS\/2 port, but in this day and age, these are obsolete. These use either Bluetooth or radio frequency (RF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Bluetooth Keyboard: A wireless keyboard that connects using Bluetooth, just like any other device that relies on this wireless standard. A Bluetooth keyboard is great because it can connect to most devices that use Bluetooth, including a smartphone, tablets, and even smart TVs.<\/li><li>RF Wireless Keyboard: This is a wireless keyboard that communicates with a small dongle that you plug into your computer, using radio frequency. They tend to be constructed quite solidly and give the best typing experience. However, they are relatively large.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another benefit of a mechanical keyboard is that there are different kinds of key switches available, each with a different tactile feel. Membrane keyboards use a single membrane that spans under all the keys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a key is pressed, it depresses the section of the membrane beneath it, which makes contact with a conductive layer and registers the key press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most keyboards in laptops are membrane keyboards since they can be built slimmer than a mechanical keyboard. There are many ways that your keyboard can bring an edge to your gaming, which is what gaming keyboards focus on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are several features that gaming keyboards have to help your gaming sessions, making them stand out from the standard keyboard. Here are some of them below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Dedicated macro keys: Depending on the kinds of games you play, you might understand how often certain sequences of keystrokes get used. Macro functions allow you to program a sequence to a single dedicated button that you can easily press during gameplay.<\/li><li>Backlit keyboards: The average gamer doesn't tend to be a fan of a setup that is intensely lit. Gaming keyboards make it a prerequisite to be backlit keyboards at the same time, particularly focusing on fancy RGB lighting.<\/li><li>High keyboard rollover: The rollover of a keyboard refers to how many keys can be pressed at the same time, while still having their inputs registered. Normal keyboards usually have a rollover of about two keystrokes, but a gaming keyboard can step this up as high as what is called \"n-key rollover\". This means all keys on the gaming keyboard could be pressed at the same time and still register.<\/li><li>Aggressive design: Gaming components have adopted a relatively aggressive design language, and you may find that a gaming keyboard tries to stick to this too. This is thanks to being entirely made of soft materials like silicone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These keyboards are great for people who need a portable physical keyboard to take around with them. Here, your comfort is the number one consideration. Even if you've been typing for hours, an ergonomic keyboard will be more comfortable for your hands and wrists than a regular keyboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With so much focus on comfort, ergonomic keyboards can sometimes come out looking quite funny.
